Serbajadi Oily Green Winged Bean - Psophocarpus tetragonolobus DC
Oily Green Winged Bean, also known as winged bean, is a climbing perennial, grown as an annual. It belongs to the same family as the French beans and long beans. The bean is easy to plant but needs a strong trellis or supports. The pale green pods, which are about 12-15 cm (5-6 inches) long, have a frilly edge along four sides. The bean is highly nutritious, containing both protein and oil. Every part of the bean plant, except the stem has a culinary use. The young beans are crunchy and delicious as salad. The more mature beans can be cooked into various dishes and the leaves; especially the young shoots are edible when cooked. The flowers can be fried and taste like mushrooms.
