Serbajadi Angled Loofah - Luffa acutangula (L.) cylindrica. (Cucurbitaceae)

Angled Loofah or angled gourd is a vigorous climbing annual herb, has ten raised angular ridges running from the stalk to the tip of the fruit. Fruits are club-shaped, 60 – 270 cm long and 5-12 cm in diameter. Young fruits which are smaller in size are preferred as the interior becomes tough and fibrous in mature angled gourds. Peel off the ridges and the rest of the skin, which is bitter. Slice crosswise, leaving the seeds intact, and use in soups or stir-fried dishes. It is best to leave it in cold running water for at least 10 minutes before cooking.
